For Design Helps Showroom Helsinki, Studio Suppanen collaborated with Tikau, a design firm that employs and empowers artisans from rural communities in India. The two companies worked together to design and build an exhibition that was to take place during World Design Capital Helsinki in 2012. Prioritizing sustainability, the budget for the exhibition was zero and thus required an inventive approach. A local recycling company partnered with the exhibition, donating a large amount of used newspapers and magazines. These sustainable materials were transformed into colorful modular structures throughout the run of the exhibition. After its close, all the materials were returned for recycling.
