In 2015, Ilkka Suppanen was awarded the annual Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, the most prestigious design award in the world. In connection to the award ceremony, his work was displayed at both the Röhsska Museum in Stockholm and the Design Museum in Helsinki. The exhibition not only showcased works from his wide-ranging design portfolio but also featured the “Wooden Cloud” installation that was specially designed for this monumental occasion. It consisted of approximately a thousand thin pieces of wood placed in frames filled with quartz sand that freely hovered above the exhibits.
